  1. Hi Andy
I was just checking out your photo essay. Cool that you went to Sidney Pier. I liked the action shot where the cage trap was thrown into the water.

  2. This was a really interesting photo essay Andy! I really liked the shot with the seagulls in the foreground on the posts, there's a great sense of depth. It is interesting you mention the diving attraction here on Vancouver Island and in Sidney specifically. I recently reconnected with a friend who has her "master divers" ticket and has dove around the world, and when I asked her what her favourite water was to dive in, she said it was local waters around here. I was amazed as I just assumed there would be more interesting marine life other places; but she explained that because colder water holds more oxygen there are more life forms that exist in our water, especially with global warming affecting water temperatures in already warmer oceans. Sorry for my long comment, but very neat way of capturing this! :)

  3. Andy, I love your photo essay! The history you provided about the pier and the information about crabs and crabbing was fascinating, particularly because I've spent so much time in that area but all that you wrote is new to me. Thank you for sharing with us!
